Long Overdue Liebster Awards!

Thank you for your kind words in response to yesterday’s post about my car accident (bad) and recent blog-related accomplishments (amazing). I was totally feelin’ the love and hope anyone who commented felt it right back!

amanda

Another recent accomplishment I forgot to mention…surpassing 3,000 followers on Twitter! Amanda gave me some props.

I’m also feeling even more blessed than ever because I have found out that my car will NOT be declared totaled! It is salvageable and I will be paying the insurance deductible and cost of renting a car for a week. I don’t want to know when or how much my rates will go up but it’s just money. EVERYONE IS OK and that’s the most important thing!

So…I have been nominated several times recently for the Liebster Awards survey that’s going around. I enjoy reading about other bloggers and learning more about their quirks, favorites, and pasts. So I hope you like reading about mine!

From Claire’s blog: The Liebster Award provides bloggers an opportunity to share information with others, and for readers and other bloggers to get to know you, and show that they actually pay attention to you…Liebster, in German, is consistently used to express your appreciation of someone, meaning “dearest” or “beloved”.  Here are the rules:

  1. Write 11 random facts about yourself
  2. Answer the 11 questions given by the person who nominated you (I’ve been nominated by several folks but am going to answer Claire’s questions since I have her blog pulled up right now :-P)
  3. Create 11 new questions
  4. Nominate 11 bloggers and mention them in your post (I will not be doing this because I feel like everyone and her mother already has a zillion nominations…I NOMINATE YOU ALL.)
  5. Thank the person that nominated you and tell the people you’ve nominated. (I like how the survey instructs you to be polite and say thank you, but I unfortunately have lost track of who nominated me! Thanks if you did!)

11 Random Facts About Me

  1. I am one of those eat-one-food-at-a-time people. For example, I cannot take a bite of veggies, then a bite of meat, switch back to veggies, etc during a given meal. Once I dig into a kind of food on my plate, I will eat that food untl it’s gone, and then move on. It kinda drives my parents nuts because they’ll ask me how I like the meat they made for dinner, but I can’t answer yet because I’m still working on my veggies.
  2. During my senior year of high school I was known for the fact that I would wear a headband every day.It would always coordinate with my outfit. I had a lot of headbands! I still bust them out from time to time.

Thank you, H&M, for the headband/scarf! Which, by the way, my sister still wears all the time.

  3. Up until middle school I NEVER wore my hair up and it drove my mother crazy because I was always playing with my hair. Of course that may have something to do with the fact that my mom made me keep it cut quite short until that time period! But it’s funny because now I have to remind myself to wear it down – it’s just so much easier to put it up!
  4. I didn’t eat apples until literally a month ago, when I decided to munch on one Mohegan gave me in the boxed lunches Maria and I received for our Mystic, CT hike. I was starved! And that apple tasted freaking amazing and I have not gone a day without eating one since, after never eating them all my life and saying I didn’t like them. Ha.
  5. I cannot stand watermelon because its consistency reminds me of that crumbly stuff that leaks out of baby diapers when they get too wet. Sorry to gross anyone out but it’s just so true. I tried to find a picture to illustrate what I mean but looking up wet baby diapers on Google Images is not fun.
  6. My favorite french fries EVER are from Red Robin. More specifically their garlic french fries. They’re like garlic bread and steak fries rolled into one, and I’m pretty sure the butter of garlic bread is included.

Ready to dive into bottomless fries and a burger WITH a bun for my 22nd birthday dinner at Red Robin.

  7. Whenever I drink a bit too much, I start throwing up the peace sign in pictures. It’s pretty funny to notice the trend across my college photos.183557_1313372309428_6311070_n 179456_1298173969479_7467653_n 165525_1302168909350_6352377_n 155499_1279089492379_5514721_n 74397_1272913857992_436456_n

    I rest my case.

  8. Every single day from elementary school to high school (12th grade people), my breakfast consisted of a glass of skim milk and a fat-free chocolate Jello pudding cup.It was all I ever had the appetite for and of course I was starving every day by 10am.

I still eat chocolate Jello pudding now, just as an after-dinner snack with some sort of carby mix-in…not breakfast!

  9. I used to wish with all my heart as a youngin’ that my name could be Emma, because Baby Spice was my FAVE.
  10. I owned two American Girl dolls, Kirsten and Molly, and also shared Kit with my sister (who owned Felicity and Samantha). Each one had some sort of bed and WAY too many outfits. My dad always would shake his head and say it was sad that our dolls were better clothed than many of the world’s children. He had a point, but man was I into these dolls. Whenever our family would go on vacation my sister and I would have our neighbor girl friends babysit the dolls for us!
  11. I didn’t learn to ride a bike without training wheelsuntil I was in about 6th grade. I was just so petrified! My friends I walked to school with eventually started biking to school together and were sick of waiting for me to learn. That’s what finally motivated me to put my big girl pants on and ride a two wheeler.

Look at this fam…now we’re pros! Well, now I’m a pro.

My Answers to Claire’s 11 Questions

  1.  Are you a dog person, or a cat person? I’m a cat person but I’m really just not a pet person. I don’t want to deal with anything that would get in the way of any plans I might have, or anything that sheds. However I like cats more than dogs because they are more calm and don’t require as much maintenance.

I’m not made to own a dog. Look how awkward this looks.

  2. If you could only eat one meal for dessert for the rest of your life, what would it be? Without a doubt that’d be the Chocolate Ganache Cake with Banana Liqueur from J. Gilbert’s. No question.

THERE IT IS. Oh baby. Funny, I wore those earrings and that bracelet yesterday!

  3. Pepsi or Coke? Neither. I think soda is disgusting!
  4. If you could workout with any famous athlete, who would you choose, and what would you do? I’d ask the women’s US Olympic team to teach me how to do a good cartwheel. Seriously. It’s been unattainable my whole life!
  5. Dunkin or Starbucks, and what is your drink of choice? If I have to choose one I’d say Starbucks.I have an intense hatred for DD and the mud they sell to people and call coffee. Don’t get me started!

Reppin the Starbucks on Newbury St, NOT the DD!

  6. What’s your favorite sport to watch in the Olympics? Gymnastics!!! Always has been. I took gymnastics when I was little but quit after I realized I was too afraid to do anything other than a somersault.
  7. Chunky peanut butter or smooth? Up until a couple years ago I’d say smooth and wrinkle my nose at chunky. In fact I usually still eat smooth. However I’ve gotta say I love the chunky nut butters the most. That crunch is way satisfying. I just got a jar of Chunky Sun Butter from Swanson Vitaminsand I can’t wait to open it!
  8. If you could do any job in the world, what would you choose? I would blog for a living! Good thing the dream is actually attainable, if I keep at it!
  9. Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s? OH boy. Tough one! I have to go with Whole Foods. I love TJ’s and their funky finds and more affordable prices but I swear, give me a Whole Foods hot/cold bar meal for every meal and I’d be (almost) totally okay with that.

I miss sharing Whole Foods with my girl Meg!

  10. What is one food that you’ve always wanted to make, but are too intimidated to try? The cauliflower pizza crusts I have been seeing floating all over the blog universe! I think I first heard about it from Janetha and then recently my blend Marissa posted a recipe as part of her fashion blog’s recent revamp into a healthy living blog as well. The fact that I rarely ever cook makes it hard to try these intimidating recipes, much less ANY recipe.
  11. If you were President, who would you choose as your VP? I’d definitely choose one of my best friends, Greg.He is just very rational and also hilarious to be around. He’d give me sound advice but we’d also have a good time. And he’s in law school, where many politicians go, so that fits.

You’d trust us to run America, right?
