Five Things FriYAY
Man oh MAN I’m so glad it’s Friday. The week felt ridiculously long, probably because I didn’t have Monday off for MLK Day, and I was well aware that many people did (due to the silence that descended over GChat). But now F-day, the day known today as FriYAY, is here. Let’s get to the fun part of it!
1. It’s time to announce the winner of my Balance Bar giveaway! You guys seemed so into it and I appreciate all the entries. The randomly selected winner is Jess W…I will be contacting you to get you your prize!
2. Has anyone else fallen in LOVE with the new Fox show Empire? I can’t be the only one, especially since ratings have been climbing with each episode, which is nearly unheard of. I’m digging all of the actors, and the music isn’t bad either. I’m especially liking this song!
I had to skip my Monday spin class and instead made myself do a really good, but terribly tough, 45 minute flow by my favorite Boston yoga instructor, Cara Gilman. I honestly only did it to prove to myself that I had the discipline to do some kind of workout. As soon as I finished and had some stew, I passed out and slept for 11 hours.
4. It’s felt great to be back at my usual workouts! Tuesday I attended a Burn class, after which I hit the Stairmaster. On Wednesday I got to go to my last Total Body Conditioning class with one of my favorite instructors, Corrie, before her grad school break ends and she leaves again. Plus I brought Jeannie with me, so it felt like our old summer workout days! Those days included post-workout beverages, and this one did too. Corrie, Jeannie, and I went to Tavern in the Square, and I decided to get dinner too – the most HEAVENLY salad topped with a house-made veggie burger. TITS (as Tavern in the Square is so affectionately called) has one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever had, so I asked for that on top of my salad, as opposed to chicken or seafood. Perfection.
Last night I took spin too, and the instructor busted out some great remixes. I have to admit that the time I spent on the Stairmaster after Tuesday’s Burn class was put in out of obligation. I felt like I had to make up for my time off while sick. It’s just still been tough…my body image is honestly a mess. I keep on keeping on but have also been doing way too much body checking in the morning before I leave and at night when I get home. It’s like my former scale addiction – so hard to cut out or even back.
5. Health insurance is confusing and scary and frustrating. I turn 26 in a couple of months so I’ve started investigating health insurance…my plan, how much it’ll cost me, etc. The plan is confusing. Paying that money every month and figuring out what I’ll cut out to make up for it is scary. And growing up in general is frustrating. That’s your growing-up-sucks mention in this post – they’ve been becoming more frequent lately.
Have you been watching “Empire” at all?
What’s the week of workouts been like for you?
Are you on your own health insurance? How the heck did you figure it out?
