Signs of Spring
The weather is FINALLY warming up here in Boston, and I couldn’t be happier about it. Winter has gone on long enough and I’m ready for patios, sundresses, and rosé.
Last weekend was Cochon555, and I was thrilled to attend the event for the first time ever. But more notably, I was thrilled by the fact that I was able to attend this indoor/outdoor event in merely a sweater and leggings. No jacket, no problem. Plus the warm weather made the above pictured Fernet Branca Menta Cold Brew all the more refreshing.
Warm weather also means that Negroni Week is coming. This year it takes place June 5-11, and involves participating Boston restaurants donating a portion of profits from Negroni sales to charity. Never had a Negroni? It consists of equal parts gin, Campari, and sweet vermouth. I prefer mine up, but sampled some on the rocks this past Monday at Nebo, an Italian restaurant located in Boston near South Station. June may be about two months away, but it certainly almost felt like June that evening, making it the perfect night to start creating hype for this week of imbibing for a cause. You can learn more about Negroni Week, including what kind of charities are supported and how to participate as a restaurant, here.
I recently went up to our building’s roof deck for the first time since it re-opened for the season, and enjoyed post-spin class rosé with Jeff and some friends. The folks at Wither Hills were kind enough to send me their Pinot Noir Rosé from New Zealand, which is actually being served in some parts of Fenway this summer. This coming Easter Sunday is supposed to be 75 degrees and sunny, so it’s safe to say I’ll be back up there again to finish off the rest of the bottle.
The rosé was dry and crisp – exactly how I like my pink wine. No sweetness at all! I definitely recommend Wither Hills if you see it in the liquor store. Bonus: it has a screw top!
Finally, to me spring means freedom from jeans, leggings, and tights. I’m so excited to reintroduce dresses and bare legs to my wardrobe. I picked up a couple new dresses recently from, of all places, American Eagle. They have some really cute stuff (not graphic tees), and great sales! I wore one to the Negroni Week event on Monday, and I think I’ll be breaking out the other one tonight.
Both dresses are still available and on sale, so check them out!
I hope everyone has a great Easter / Marathon Monday weekend, and whatever you have planned, I hope it involves being outside soaking up spring!
How do you celebrate the first signs of spring?
